The complete list of all 2020/2021 Queen's Commerce supplementary admissions essay questions, along with tips for perfecting your 2021/2022 application!
The Personal Statement Of Experience included one 300-word essay about an extracurricular activity, plus listing up to 5 jobs, 5 awards, and 5 additional extra-curricular activities.
Historically, two questions were provided, both of which had to be answered. Last year, each month three Commerce Supplementary questions were posted in SOLUS (the Queen's student portal), allowing students to select and submit essay responses for two of the three questions.
💥 Describe an activity or initiative that you are involved in. Share successes and challenges you experienced during your involvement.
💥 Choose a person who has influenced you and discuss the impact they have made in your life.
💥 Tell us about who you are. What elements have shaped who you are today?
💥 What is important to you? Why is it important?
💥 If you could start an organization to help a cause or community in need, what issue would it address and why?
💥 Describe a transformative experience that led to a better understanding of yourself or others.
💥 Describe a problem you’ve solved or one you’d like to solve. Why did or do you feel it is important and what steps did or would you take to solve it?
💥 Think about a time where you questioned something you once thought to be true. Why did your beliefs come into question and what was the result of this reflection?
💥 Tell us something about you (background, an interest, a talent, etc.) that is an integral part of your identity, and why?.
• Don't force your extra-curricular activities into your essay responses... if they wanted to know, they would still have the PSE.
• Be authentic. Dig deep to think about what makes you truly unique, and share that story!
• Think to yourself... "could any other student tell this story?" If it's a yes, you are on the wrong path. If its a story only you could tell, thats the goal!
• Your writing style (tone, flow, grammar, punctuation) is just as important as what you are saying. Spend equal time refining both content & writing style.
